Wordpress

Disable Cron

wp-cron.php is run everytime a user accesses the site. Needless to say, this can slow down a site. So it can help to disable the automatic wp-cron.pnp and instead just add a cron job that runs it every 30 mins:

Add this to wp-config.php

define('DISABLE_WP_CRON', true);

Then create a cron job (usually in your cPanel, though you can use crontab too) that runs it every 30 mins

php -f /home/user/public_html/wp-cron.php

Or you can run curl to fetch it:

curl -sS http://www.example.com/wp-cron.php
