Cycles, Hair, and Rendering

Cycles is a new rendering system for Blender.

Here's a simple tutorial on how to do it. However, you'll want to change a few things:

  • The “Hair Rendering Nodes” have changed. It's now curved/straight/something else. I used “Curved” for most hair.
  • Increase the number of children to 2000
  • Increase the samples to 600+
  • Eye lashes are off, so
    • Change bottom eye lash “Cycles hair settings” to [Root 0.02] and [Shape -0.80]
    • Top eye lash to [Root 0.05] and [Shape -0.30]
    • Change children values if needed.
  • I think that's all I did.

Lighting

The integrator is the rendering algorithm used to compute the lighting. Cycles currently supports a path tracing integrator with direct light sampling. It works well for various lighting setups, but is not as suitable for caustics and some other complex lighting situations.

The Area lamp simulates light originating from a surface (or surface-like) emitter, for example, a TV screen, your supermarket’s neons, a window or a cloudy sky are just a few types.
